The Way We Go

Transit Stories from the Kansas City Region

Every month, thousands of people across Kansas City rely on buses and streetcars to get where they need to go, whether it’s work, school, health care or social activities. Public transit is an essential part of life for many residents.

In summer 2025, WAY TO GO launched a regional project focused on learning more about how people use public transit and what their experiences are like. “The Way We Go: Transit Stories from the Kansas City Region” will include:

  • Interviews with riders and transit operators
  • Observations at key bus and streetcar routes and stops
  • Focus groups with communities across the region

Transit Stories Advisory Group

An advisory group of transit users from around the region has been brought together to guide the project and help collect stories. Their insights will help paint a clearer picture of what’s working, what can be improved and what a future system that works for everyone could look like.
