Get to know RideKC’s mobility services 

In need of transportation where a fixed-route bus or streetcar isn’t an option for you? RideKC offers a few services to meet the needs of older people, people with disabilities and those not living near a fixed route.

RideKC Freedom

Who it's best for

People with disabilities who can schedule their rides 24 hours in advance.

Overview

RideKC Freedom is a free service for people with disabilities who are unable to fully use fixed-route buses or the streetcar. Service is offered throughout Kansas City, Missouri; Independence, Missouri; Johnson County, Kansas; and Wyandotte County, Kansas. 

After first filling out an application and getting approval, you can then schedule your trip.

Cost

Free for ADA passengers. Non-ADA users should use RideKC Freedom On-Demand. 

RideKC Freedom On-Demand

Who it's best for

People with disabilities and older adults who want curb-to-curb service

Overview

RideKC Freedom On-Demand does not require an advance reservation and advertises a curb-to-curb service for people with disabilities or older adults via specialized transportation, typically a cab.  

Booking

Use the RideKC Freedom On-Demand app or call 8168429070. These trips do not require 24 hours’ notice to schedule.

Cost

Freedom On-Demand offers the rider a deal of $5 for the first five miles and $2 each mile after. RideKC Freedom On-Demand allows you to pay cash when boarding the vehicle, credit/debit or through the mobile app. Riders must start their trip within the service area to qualify for reduced fares. Trips starting outside the subsidized service area will include a general public fare.

IRIS

Who it's best for

People looking to fill gaps between a transit stop and a destination.

Overview

RideKC’s IRIS on-demand service was created to provide an expanded connection for residents to fill in the gaps where a bus stop or other transportation service may not be as accessible. Service is available throughout Kansas City, Missouri, and within the borders of North Kansas City, Gladstone, Riverside and Liberty.  

This service utilizes an on-demand routing model which picks up and drops off riders in locations within one quarter mile of their request for a minimal fee. Vehicles can seat up to five passengers and offer different accommodation options should you need to transport a wheelchair or bicycle.

You can book your ride through the IRIS mobile app or by calling 816-205-8221. 

Cost

Ride fares vary from $3 for trips taken within your zone, $4 to travel to another zone, and $10 to travel to and from the airport.
